St Andrews Wedding Photography

St Andrews wedding photography is always interesting to shoot because my clients often have a personal connection with the university and this was certainly the case for Stacey and Rick. The outdoor ceremony was held in the pretty St Johns Garden outside the medieval history building where Rick was a student.

Weddings at St Andrews are steeped in history. Founded in the fifteenth century, St Andrews is Scotland’s first university and the third oldest English speaking university in the World.  The ceremony was conducted by Donald McEwan, the university chaplain. I love shooting  outdoor ceremonies and St Andrews has so many gorgeous gardens and historically rich buildings that made a great backdrop when taking portrait shots of Stacey and Rick.

After the ceremony everybody enjoyed drinks in the gardens before heading over to the College Halls for the wedding breakfast, speeches and reception. I love the personal touches at weddings and at this one I particularly liked the way Stacey and Rick had decorated the tables, they looked so elegant. Though my personal highlight of the day was the glorious nod to Stacey’s Yorkshire roots by way of a wedding cake made entirely of pork pies. Not any old pork pies but award winning pork pies made by Kendall’s Farm Butchers in Harrogate. I never would have imagined a wedding cake made of pork pies could be so pretty!

After the wedding breakfast and speeches evening entertainment was in the form of ceilidh band Whisky Kiss who had Stacey, Rick and all their guests up onto their feet and dancing well into the evening.
