St Andrews University Wedding photography – Ranald and Kerri

St Andrews University wedding photography

St Andrews University wedding photography is always a pleasure to shoot so I was delighted when Kerri and Ranald asked me to tell the story of their wedding day there. On the day I met Kerri at her parents’ house just outside St Andrews to get some shots of her getting ready. Kerri looked amazing in her dress which gave her the most gorgeous silhouette. Before leaving I took some portraits of Kerri in her parents beautiful garden. Then I headed into St Andrews to catch up with Ranald and the boys.

Ranald and his grooms’ party all looked very handsome in their kilts and I took some fun shots of them around the university buildings. I also got the chance to catch up with the bridesmaids so I took the chance to get some shots of them too.

A piper played outside the university chapel. I have to talk about the chapel. It is beautifully ornate and majestic and the pews face each other in a collegiate style. This layout is perfect for weddings as it gives the ceremony a much warmer inclusive feel as guests are facing each other and the wedding party. There isn’t that usual craning of necks when the bride arrives.

The ceremony was conducted by Reverend John Purves. After the ceremony I took Kerri and Ranald down to the iconic West Sands Beach to take some portrait shots of them. We then returned to the university for reception drinks and a chance to take some family and group shots before everyone headed inside for the reception dinner. One lovely touch on the day was the university had been renovating their quadrangle area outside and they’d laid a lot of paving stones that people could get their names put on so bride Kerri got her name on one of the stones so she will always be a part of the building where she was married.

For the evening the party retired upstairs to be entertained by a live Celidh band who had everybody up on their feet dancing. A fun end to a beautiful wedding day.

A lovely friendly wedding at an iconic venue. Congratulations to Kerri and Ranald for getting married and creating such a memorable day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.
