Dumfries House Wedding Photography

Dumfries House is an amazing wedding setting. It made the perfect backdrop for capturing Catriona and John’s lovely wedding day.

On the morning of the wedding I arrived at Catriona’s family farm so I could take some shots of her as she made her final preparations.

After the bridal preps I headed to New Laigh Kirk Church in Kilmarnock to catch up with John. New Laigh Kirk was built in 1802 and is the third church to stand on the site. A landmark building in Kilmarnock, the church is vibrant and central in the life of the town. On arrival I was greeted by John and took the opportunity to take some shots of him and his grooms’ party before the service.

Catriona arrived with her dad to walk her down the aisle. Catriona looked stunning in her dress that had the most beautiful train that suited the majesty of the church’s interior perfectly.

Afterwards we all set off for Dumfries House for the reception. Dumfries House is one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes and is decorated with an outstanding collection of 18th century furniture. On arrival guests enjoyed a drinks reception and I quickly took Catriona and John around the grounds of Dumfries House to get some portrait shots of them.  Unfortunately, the rain started so we used one of the corridors upstairs for the group shots. Fortunately it stopped just before the wedding breakfast so we managed to take a quick group shot of everyone on the front steps of the house.

With its scenic outlook and views across the grounds of Dumfries House, the Pavilion is a stunning room and the ceiling to floor patio doors allow light to flood in. After the meal there were some excellent speeches, the cutting of the cake and a delightful first dance to a live band, who ensured that Catriona and John were quickly joined on the dancefloor.

Before leaving I took one last shot of Dumfries House all lit up in the evening light. It was such a beautiful image and seemed a fitting one to close the story of Catriona and John’s day.

A great couple, a laid back and fun wedding at a luxurious and elegant venue. Congratulations to Catriona and John for getting married and creating such a memorable day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.
