Castles weren’t built to be cosy and friendly but that is always the feel I get when I shoot Myres Castle Wedding Photography. So I was thrilled when Jennifer and Ewan chose this quirky and luxurious castle to get married in and invited me to capture the day for them. I arrived early to get some shots of Jennifer and her bridal party getting ready in one of the bridal suites, a stunning bedroom that provided a lovely background for taking preparation shots. Jennifer looked beautiful, her dress was gorgeous and gave her the most stunning silhouette. I then caught up with Ewan and his groom’s party, all looking resplendent in traditional Scottish dress (though I think the youngest member of the grooms party was definitely the handsomest) and I took some shots of them in the billiard room and as they walked across the castle grounds.
It was a gorgeously sunny day as everybody walked down through the stunning grounds of the castle to the old apple store for the ceremony. The apple store is a wooden construction with wood burning stoves and fairy lights giving it a cosy and romantic atmosphere making it ideal for wedding ceremonies. The service was conducted by humanist celebrant Lorna Hanlon.
After the ceremony I took Jennifer and Ewan around the grounds to take some portrait shots. There are so many lovely spots in the grounds and I knew Ewan’s favourite were the hippo sculptures in the pond so I was sure to include those. We then re-joined the rest of the wedding party who were enjoying drinks on the lawn before making their way down to the Barnquee for the reception meal and speeches. In case you’re wondering a Barnquee is a cross between a barn and a marquee. It’s a great space. Caterers were ‘Lazy Sunday’ who did an amazing job (as they always do)
Evening entertainment was in the form of live band Callanish, a Caleidh Band who had everybody on their feet and dancing well into the evening.
Before I left I quickly took Jennifer and Ewan outside to take some portrait shots as the light and the sky were looking amazing. We even managed to get a rainbow in shot which was something I had arranged in advance, I’m that good! OK, not really but can you believe the timing! The image of Jennifer and Ewan standing under a rainbow seemed the perfect shot to the close the story of their wedding day.
A great couple and a fun, friendly and elegant wedding at a fantastic venue. Congratulations to Jennifer and Ewan for getting married. I hope my images will help you relive your day again and again.
