Balbirnie House wedding photography
Balbirnie House wedding photography is always a pleasure to shoot so I was thrilled when Rachel and Shaun asked me to shoot their wedding there. Balbirnie is an 18th century luxurious and elegant Georgian mansion set in 400 acres of rolling parkland. I arrived early so I could capture Rachel and her bridesmaids getting ready in one of the beautiful bridal suites. The enormous windows in the suite sent light flooding in allowing me to get some great shots of the girls as they made their final preparations. Rachel looked gorgeous in her dress that had some exquisite lace detail. I particularly liked the pretty neckline and simple pearl jewellery. Make-up was done by Karen Bowen.
I then quickly popped downstairs to shoot Shaun and his grooms’ party who were having a quick dram on the lawn (for medicinal purposes I’m sure!)
Rachel and Shaun chose to have a outdoors ceremony on the lawns of the estate. After the wedding ceremony we all went around to the front steps for a group shot of every and a confetti shot. Rachel and Shaun’s guests enjoyed reception drinks out on the lawn whilst I took the newlyweds around the grounds to take some lovely portraits of the two of them set against the gorgeous backdrop of Balbirnie.
The ballroom is a magnificent room and Rachel and Shaun had decorated it with traditional bunting, pretty teacups and homemade jam giving the room a gorgeous vintage look. I loved the suitcase wedding cake (complete with safari animals) which was a reference to Rachel and Shaun’s imminent safari honeymoon in South Africa.
The evening entertainment was a live band who were friends of Rachel’s. Rachel, a violinist, couldn’t help but join in much to the delight of all the guests.
A lovely couple, an elegant, friendly and laid back wedding at a stunning venue. Congratulations to Rachel and Shaun for getting married and creating such a memorable day for yourselves, your family and your friends to remember.
