Rufflets Hotel Wedding Photography – Liz and Colin

Rufflets Hotel Wedding Photography

The impressive Holy Trinity Church in the centre of the historic town of St Andrews is where Liz and Colin chose to have their wedding ceremony.  There has been a church on the site since 1411 and the current church stays true to its handsome medieval beginnings.  Both wedding parties prepared for the day at nearby Rufflets Hotel, having hired two of their beautiful lodges (one for the boys and one for the girls) to prepare at.  This gave me the opportunity to take some lovely shots of Liz as she got ready.

Liz looked stunning in an elegant dress with gorgeous lace detail, which was well complimented by the bridesmaids in purple.  Colin and his wedding party wore kilts (which was a first for some of the ushers who coming from Nothern Ireland were not accustomed to wearing a kilt let alone wearing one on such a windy day!) There was a lovely surprise when Liz and her father arrived, as he was also wearing a kilt (a real surprise for Liz’s mum as she thought it was something she’d never see!)

Straight after the ceremony all the guests headed back to Rufflets Hotel for reception drinks whilst I took Liz and Colin around St Andrews for some quick portrait shots in front of the cathedral and on the west beach (featured in the iconic running scene in the film Chariots of Fire)

Then it was back to the hotel for a warm welcome.  Rufflets Hotel is a multi-award winning country house hotel set in 10 acres of beautiful woodland gardens.   As the weather was fine I was able to find a lovely spot in the garden to take some group and family shots.  The wedding reception was held in the Garden Suite, an impressive purpose built self-contained extension that is exclusively used for wedding and this is where everybody enjoyed reception drinks, the wedding breakfast and speeches.

I must give the last word to the Liz and Colin’s wedding cakes.  Just when I thought this wedding couldn’t be any more Scottish they come up two very unique cakes.  The first was a Tunnocks caramel wafer wedding cake and the second was a Tunnocks tea cake wedding cake.  Pure class!

Evening entertainment was provided by the Ceiledh band ‘Bahookie’ who in no time had everybody up on to their feet and dancing.

A perfect summer wedding with lots of love and laughter.  Congratulations to Liz and Colin for getting married.  I hope my images will help you to relive your wedding day for many years to come.
