Wedding Photography St Andrews – Brett and Alexa

Brett and Alexa came over from the USA to get married at St Salvators University chapel in St Andrews. I always love to hear the reason why couples choose certain locations to get married and Brett and Alexa story was a great one. To marry at St Salvators chapel either the bride or the bridegroom must be a current member of staff or a student or a graduate of the University of St Andrews, or a child, grandchild or a sibling of a member of staff or student or graduate. None of these applied so when Brett and Alexa contacted the university they were hoping that they would be allowed. Luckily Alexa was a Wardlaw and a decendent of Bishop Wardlaw who founded the University so permission was given.

They were very keen to spend time getting lots of shots around town and luckily it was a sunny day. Then it was back to the Rusacks for dinner with some family and friends that had travelled over with them. Lots of toasts followed including a drink from the family Wardlaw cut that was carved from one piece of wood. Brett and Alexa has to link ring fingers through the rings of the cup before each drinking.

I left them enjoying a great night but not before sneaking them back out onto the golf course for one last shot. Enjoy the photos…..

Wedding Photography Kenmore Hotel,Perthshire – Matthew and Mia

The stunning surroundings of Aberfeldy and Kenmore were the locations for Matthew and Mia’s wedding blessing. They had already married on the Island of St Vincent in the Caribbean where Mia is from but chose to have a blessing back in Scotland too. As Matthew’s uncle owns the Kenmore hotel, the area around Loch Tay it was an obvious choice.

After the ceremony we went up to the Birks of Aberfeldy a gorgeous woodland walk above the town (Birks is Scots for birch trees). After capturing some lovely couple shots it was back to the hotel for the reception (via a small stop at the Lochside). I do want to make special mention of the cake which was made by Matthew’s brother and best man! A definite first for me……and it looked amazing!!

Wedding Photography Winton House, East Lothian – Lucy and Maurice

Lucy and Maurice got married on a glorious summers day at the stunning St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh. I had been really looking forward to shooting their wedding and the experience certainly did not disappoint. It’s always nice when my clients have chosen me after being at a previous wedding I have shot and it meant that I knew lots of the guests at the wedding…

I started the day at Winton farmhouse in East Lothian where the girls were getting ready. After heading into Edinburgh for the ceremony we headed back to Winton House for the reception.

Lucy have spent ages hand making many of the details in the marquee and it looked fabulous..Despite the weather that we have been having this summer the sun shone and everyone was able to enjoy the fabulous setting well into the evening……..

I know that Mona and Meeten are dying to see their sneak peak of Jai’s photographs. I have never met such a happy smiley baby. He was a real treasure and LOVED the camera…..could be all the practice he gets posing for Meeten!

Scottish Master Photographer’s Association Awards 2010

Last week was the Scottish MPA awards held at Dunblane Hilton. As usual there were a huge amount of entries in both the wedding and portrait categories. The standard of photography was very high and I was delighted to win 5 awards this year. A great day all round and a fantastic opportunity to catch up with some fellow photographers…..

Ross and Evelyn | Wedding Photography at Craigsanquhar Hotel Fife

Last weekend saw me at St Salvator’s Chapel in St Andrews for the wedding of Ross and Evelyn. I did wonder if we had some special guests when a press photographer appeared but found out it was for the next wedding, where Prince William was a guest. Unfortunately I missed him arriving as were busy at the side of the chapel doing the family groups…..C’est la vie!

After a quick stop at the Swilken Bridge it was off to Craigsanquhar hotel by Cupar for the reception.
